Jay Henderson

For over 28 years, Jay Henderson has been a leader in residential construction in South Carolina with integrity, quality, and straight-forward communication.

Based on a team concept, Jay works closely with design professionals, including top architects, craftsmen and suppliers to build homes that will provide the client with personal enjoyment and excellent investment value for years to come. Our goal is to deliver high quality projects in a timely manner by employing and supporting high character, trustworthy, motivated, flexible team members. We value the importance of our collaborative relationships with owners and will continue to remain respectful, fair, and true in our dealings with employees, clients, and trade partners.

Jay was born and raised in Virginia. As the son of a Marine Corps Sergeant and public-school teachers, he learned early in life the importance of hard work and discipline. After graduating from the University of Florida with a degree in Construction Management, Jay started his residential building career in Charleston in 1993. Over the following 26 years, he provided strategic leadership and direction for large national home building companies serving in multifunctional roles that included all phases of Home Building operations including construction management, operations management, contracts, sales management along with land acquisition/sales.

As a South Carolina licensed Residential Builder (1994) and Unlimited General Contractor (2000), Jay oversaw the construction of thousands of single-family homes in all major markets across the state of South Carolina with front line interaction with local and state government agencies, municipalities, land sellers, and home buyers. In 2011, Jay provided strategic leadership and direction to establish a high-end custom home building division for a large company in the Charleston market. He established a business plan to acquire unique infill properties, develop new product lines and quality performance expectations. From 2011 through 2019 they were recognized by industry peers with several PRISM awards for design and quality by the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors.

Jay is a dedicated construction professional recognized for established business relationships with homeowners, key partners, vendors, and developers. Today, Nathan Zane Design Build continues the same strong business model. Jay enjoys working very closely with customers through the entire construction process. He prides himself on the fact that each project creates a bond with his clients. In Jay’s words, “It’s pretty simple, treat everyone with understanding, respect and integrity and build relationships that last a lifetime. For me, it’s not a job. I love the connection with people and seeing our clients achieve the home of their dreams.”
